I don't remember it being like that?

After a relaxing morning of getting the small ones up, hanging out the washing, emptying the dishwasher, making 3 packed lunches, taking dinner out of the freezer, feeding & walking the dog and dropping the smallest off at the childminder, I made my way to university for the first time in a 'few' years.... I don't remember mornings being like that the first time round!

The tutors I met today were so lovely. It feels like a lot of thought has gone into the course structure. We started off with a chat from the head of the dept and then from our personal tutor. They talked us through the course, timetables, assessments, etc. We then heard from the tutor about our 'Masters' module. This is all about reflection and finding our own teacher philosophy. We had to come up with our strengths and 'areas for development' and then share that with another student. I said my strength was communication and interpersonal skills. But that I need to work on finding my own 'voice'. I read lots of different theories and they swirl around in my head and I find it really hard to decide what I think and then get that down on paper (without being too wordy!!). The tutor stressed that we need to be kind to ourselves and give ourselves time to evolve.

There must have only been about 20 students, so quite nice that it is a small cohort. I had images of a lecture theatre with 100 people! Most seemed to be mature students, so that was also a relief that I wasn't the oldest in the bunch!

We have been given A LOT of bits of paper and my brain hurts just now. I have to go away and come up with an object to take in tomorrow which tells people about me???!!! God knows.....

In the meantime, I shall go and do the school run, make dinner, do the oldest one's parents evening and then get her to swimming.

Again.... it wasn't like that first round either......
