My first post! How very exciting!
I think I should start with a bit about me and (briefly!) how I got to this point. I have wanted to teach for years. I remember in my early 20s considering doing teacher training and then life sort of just took over. I got married (young) had one baby (still quite young) and then another (still not even 30) and it just wasn't high on my to do list.
That said, I haven't sat on my laurels entirely and completed a Diploma in Antenatal Education in 2012 and been teaching for the last 10 years as an antenatal teacher.
I did apply to do a PGCE in 2014 but withdrew my application when I realised that I had 2 small children and came to the conclusion that I would probably end up being a crap student and a crap mother at that point. So I got myself a job as a TA at a local primary school. From there I trained to be an HLTA and another baby later and I began teaching RE to KS2 2 days a week. 240 children in 2 days. And you know what? I love it.
So here I am. Post pandemic, 3 children later, and finally in the right headspace to make the leap, return to uni to get my PGCE and make my teaching 'official'!
